Guest stuartrmealor
Hi I am trying to get the following working on a Toshiba Tecra A3X laptop and it's 'well beyond my abilities' ! I have a PCMCIA "Vodafone Mobile Connect 3G/GPRS data card" (indicates Model:E618 on underside) The card shows as Unknown/Others as a HUAWEI Mobile I'm using Mandriva 2006 paid version. But if I try and create a new network connection it doesn't show :-( Can anyone help me get this going ??? Would be great! Stuart On a Windows XP laptop under Control Panel, Hardware, Device Manager, it shows as: HUAWEI Mobile Connect - 3G Modem (Location listed as: on USB Composite Device) Properties (Diagnostics) shows: Hardware ID: USB\Vid_12d1&Pid_1001&Rev_0000&MI_00# Properties (Advanced) shows: Extra initialization commands: AT +CGDCONT=`,"IP","www.vodafone.net.nz"; If I use the Query Modem button I can see: Manufacturer: HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. Model: 182 Revision: I:12.16.01G IMEI: 356570000287922 +GCAP: +CGSM,+FCLASS,+DS Windows XP lists the device as a USB Composite Device HUAWEI Mobile Connect - 3G Modem HUAWEI Mobile Connect - 3G Application Interface (COM6) HUAWEI Mobile Connect - 3G PC UI Interface (COM7)
SoulSe
A friend of mine got one working in Ubuntu by treating it as a generic PCMCIA modem. Not sure of more details than that, but it might get you headed in the right direction so long...
