I agree with ffi, definitely a waste of time unless you paid mandriva to use this tool to get the notification. You can get updates without it, but its just probably an easy money spinner for them when people think updates aren't free.

You can get your updates manually through System/Configuration/Packaging/Mandriva Updates. It will automatically pick a mirror for you.

 

However, I do recommend you visit the easyurpmi link at the top of this page, and set up for main, contrib, updates, plf-free and plf-nonfree. You'll have access to loads of software. Just make sure you choose the correct version of Mandriva that you have installed, else you'll end up upgrading the whole OS to a new version.
