Hello,

Finally broke down and bought Powerpack 2006 and wanted to ask a quick question before I ran the install on my Dell Workstation 650. I read a thread somewhere (don't recall what linux distro it was for) where it was mentioned that if you are using a smp machine that you should install the 64 bit version of a linux os.

Can somebody more knowledgeable them me comment on this.

thanks for the help.......

don't install the 64-bit version unless you have a 64-bit processor. there are a variety of 64-bit processors, so if you are unsure let us know what processor you have and we can let you know if it's 64-bit.

you too :)

also note that you may have to install a kernel with SMP support after installation, however, i think mandriva will detect this and install the proper kernel itself.

running this command from a terminal/command line will tell you what kernel you have:

uname -a
