and now sound does work when viewing movie trailers though I can clearly hear the startup sound when 2007 boots. and why can't I mount my external NAS drives without having to do it each and every time I boot the computer? Doesn't the OS hold settings when I click ok? thanks

Hello, I have just installed the 2007 version and have a few issues I was wondering if anybody else out there has noticed: 1. I am trying to have the time set to NTP but I get an error Unable to Contact Time Server each time I attempt to select a time server and without this the time is coming up incorrectly as in hours off when I boot. 2. Every time I attempt to use K3B to burn anything (ISO file, music file etc.) I get errors and am unable to use the app at all. 3. Even thought I have set up 3D it doesn't appear to work and I have but a "normal" desktop. I went through the enable process but when I restart Xserver I get nothing but a regular desktop experience. Going to spend some time cruising the forums for answers just wondering if any other new installees have had the same type of problems. thank you

Ok then you can update both Firefox and Thunderbird (if you are using it as well) with the Kiosk bundle once you login to Kiosk. If you need help doing this let me know and I will get you the url etc. Because I didn't have Thunderbird installed when I did the bundle I got an error, but the Firefox upgrade completed without any problems. thanks

Hey Null, I am new to Madriva as well. Not sure if you are a registered/paying member or not, but I used Kiosk and downloaded/installed the Mozilla bundle and it updated Firefox to a more up to date version. One back from current I believe. I also did the OpenOffice bundle to get version 2 of it, but after running the bundle installed noticed that both version 2 and the older version I first got when I bought PowerPack 2006 were still on the machine which is less then what I would have hoped for. I thought that it would install over top of the old version but that doesn't appear to be the case. Not sure if this helps at all but thought I would share what little I knew... good luck

Well I tried the directions for Nano and made the changes mentioned and am still get little over 250 frames per so something is not right. What I don't get in all this is if I used Kiosk and installed the Drivers package/bundle why isn't the full capabilities of the video card being used if the right ATI driver was part of the downloaded and installed bundle? thanks

Thanks I did the Mesa thing and was asked for the PowerPack DVD to load/install 2 files which it did without an issue. Silly/stupid question, but how do you edit the xorg.conf file from with Konsole? Hello, I just bought Powerpack 2006 and installed it on my Sony Vaio laptop, but when I run glxgears it get like 10 frames per second from the ATI 9700 Mobility graphics card. What gives? I thought when you paid the for OS you got the ATI drivers. Thanks [moved from installing mandriva by tyme]

Hello, Finally broke down and bought Powerpack 2006 and wanted to ask a quick question before I ran the install on my Dell Workstation 650. I read a thread somewhere (don't recall what linux distro it was for) where it was mentioned that if you are using a smp machine that you should install the 64 bit version of a linux os. Can somebody more knowledgeable them me comment on this. thanks for the help.......

thanks jboy. I will check the items you mention below. I did not touch the firewall last night when I did the install and when I couldn't get connectivity the first time I went to MCC and ran the network set up a second and even third time making sure the the service started at boot. I will check/post the log files you mention. I connect to the internet via a cable modem hooked into aNetgear FVS318 ProSafe VPN Firewall (www.netgear.com/products/details/FVS318.php). The connection is wired. I made the point of "deleting" the wireless connetion when I went back into MCC for the laptop as I thought perhaps the wired and wirelss connetions were messing each other up. I changed one of the items to NONE I believe (not at home just now sorry). I didnt' add any of the server info assuming DHCP/DNS would pick up the laptop without issue as other distros have. thanks again

Hello, I am new to these boards and just installed the beta 2 software last night on my Sony Vaio laptop. Everything went really well except for some reason even though I requested auto dhcp connectivity I can't get to my network or out to the net. I woke up this a.m. wondering if perhaps the firewall is set to default to some setting that is not allowing this connectivity. I picked Standard in the security section of the install.
