mateamargo
When I try to run Winamp with Wine it prompts a message asking me to download an ActiveX component for Mozilla. In this URL: http://www.winehq.com/hypermail/wine-patch...04/02/0176.html is a link to http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/mozilla.htm But all the downloads are EXE files and I can't install them with Wine. Does anyone solved this yet?
Gul Dukat
Why winamp? If your that addicted to Winamp, why don't you try XMMS?
mateamargo
Because I have it a VQF plugin. And XMMS doesn't work correctly. I have downloaded the last version but it seems to be an gtk problem.
scarecrow
The xmms VQF plugin is unmaintained for ages... but Mplayer does provide vqf input support: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/codecs-status.html You will just need the full mplayer win32-codecs pack installed. solarian
What is VQF? p.s. Audacious is not a bad Winamp clone too
scarecrow
What is VQF? p.s. Audacious is not a bad Winamp clone too vqf is an old, failed MP3 substitute. Audacious is IMO not terribly good- at least I never fell in love with it, and anyway the only app that seems to playback vqf media without trouble is mplayer (plus its frontends). solarian
thanks for the info I mentioned Audacious just because it's similar to Winamp, but I think it's kinda slow (too slow), but I'm now using it, because xmms has gone all crashy on me. mateamargo
Well, I have downloaded the VQF plugin for XMMS. My question is, this plugin goes in General folder plugin? Because I copied there but I'm unable to see it into XMMS Preferences.
scarecrow
The xmms plugin ( libvqf.so ) should be put into ~/lib/xmms/Input On my system xmms is installed at /usr, while on others it is at /usr/local.
mateamargo
I have copied the libvqf.so to the Input folder, but I can't see it into preferences (look at the snapshots) Plugins Preferences Is there any other path where the files should be? Thanks.
scarecrow
Reach the file via a root terminal (or via "kdesu krusader"- you have to provide the root password, of course), and flag the file as readable and writable by everyone. It seems like a permissions problem, as the plugin IS listed in the right place. I don't have any vqf files, but I installed it in my Arch linux system, and xmms displays the plugin just fine (need a screenshot?). It's a very simple, not configurable plugin. mateamargo
I have just changed the permission, and now the file is green. But I'm still can't see the plugin. If I run the program through Konsole I can see this messages: libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3: no se puede abrir el fichero del objeto compartido: No existe el fichero o el directorio Says that cannot load the file from the shared object, because it doesn't exist. Can this affect to the plugin? EDIT: YES!!, I just installed this library and now I can listen VQF Thanks for the help.
