Guest CptFuzzy
Mandriva Linux release 2006.0 (Official) for i586 Kernel 2.6.12-12mdksmp on a Dual-processor i686 How can I configure the VNC server to serve the local (real) desktop instead of a virtual one? I was able to do this with SUSE somehow, but not mandriva yet. I've tried the built in KDE vnc and installed tight VNC server. changing to display 0 just does not work ;) (VNCSERVERS="0:user" in sysconfig/vncservers). Using VNC with display 1 works fine, as usual. /etc/init.d/vncserver start Starting VNC server: 0:admin A VNC server is already running as :0 [FAILED] and no, i don't see any other instance of vnc running. scarecrow
TightVNC server is only for virtual desktops. For real desktops, you must use x11vnc, or in the case of Mandriva, x0rbfb. That said, KDE has its own embedded VNC server, which you can activate via kcontrol, and same applies for Gnome (sorry I don't remember its name, I'm not a Gnome user). uralmasha
x0vncserver as the user who wants to share will suffice. You need to configure password before you can use it. Edited June 27, 2006 by uralmasha
