How to put a shutdown option on my logout screen?

What desktop are you running? If KDE, you need to have it set to KDM. So go to System/Configuration/Configure Your Computer/System/Display Manager. Once changed, to KDM you'll get the shutdown option.

 

If using Gnome, then you need to change this to GDM instead, and then you'll get the shutdown here.

I noticed that. Plain stupid IMO. Reboot and Shutdown are anything but D.E.-dependant... :(

edit: Stupid forum code, too, that changes "DE" to "De" (for Desktop Environment of course).

If using KDE goto System >>Configuration>>KDE>>Components>>Session Manager and under General area at the top ensure "Offer shutdown options" is checked. You can also configure the default shutdown option there.
