Hi guys :) I have recently installed Mandriva 2006 and i have a problem with my ADSL modem. It's a Thomson Speedtouch USB 330 ADSL modem over PPoE. My VPI/VCI are 0/35. So here is the problem. I install Mandriva, the setup detects my modem and it installs the drivers. After i finish the setup and enter the OS, it hangs for a while when it's loading: "Bringing up interface: ppp0" It unhangs after a few minutes saying that this module has failed... If i try to start the Speedtouch connection, i get Failed...So i decided to google for a solution and i found this one:

Solution

I tried the method explained there, using the speedtouchconf.tar.gz and rev4fw.zip files (i have the silver modem)

But it still doesn't work, i am getting this error:

[root@localhost speedtouchconf-2.0-09_Jan_2006]# ./speedtouchconf.sh

If you have any problems with this script, mail me
(steve at steve-parker dot org) with the files
/tmp/speedtouch.txt and /var/log/messages for diagnosis.
The kernel speedtch module is loaded. This is not
compatible with the speedtouch usermode driver.
Removing the speedtch module
 Linux kernel version 2.6 okay.

Please check the username and password in /etc/ppp/*-secrets.
Also check the VPI/VCI in /etc/ppp/peers/adsl
You could try removing the following files first:
/var/run/ppp0.pid
Then run /etc/rc.d/init.d/speedtouch start
Current settings: 021xxxxxxx@SIP3 / xxxxxxxx / 0 / 35
[root@localhost speedtouchconf-2.0-09_Jan_2006]#

Any help would be greatly appreciated :) thank you
