Well, the first card I tried was linksys' new wireless g card. Unfortunately it turns out to be a card bus device. Not supported by any wireless card drivers in Linux. (A familiar theme. :-)

 

So I exchanged it for a gook ol' WPC11. I found lots of ideas via google that invloved editing ifcfg-ethN, even the wireless tools page said that's how it works in MD 8.2. Boink, that's the sound I heard; no go. So I set it up according to the URL given by jim56b above, and ping ping, it works.

 

Even have WEP working!

 

I can see that this wireless thing is only for when I *really* want to get away from my desk. It's a tad slow, even for console use, but durn if it doesn't work!
