Is there a file somewhere where you can choose the default icons? Right when you change an icon theme some icons do not change because it looks for specifiek Mandriva icons and all the names have to be manually editted for each icon and theme.... (ie change kmenu.png -> menuk-mdk.png)

The icons are normally controlled by the icon themes. You can go into Configure Your Desktop and then into the settings and see the icon sets. Which of course, you've already done this, so no need to worry here.

Any icons that don't change, you can just right click, and then change them manually anyhow within the properties settings for each icon, like the "Home" icon on the desktop.

I've noticed this with Mandriva when I've installed new icon sets. For example, the home item on the desktop isn't set to look at "home.png" like it is normally in most other distros. It's set to something else. If you change it manually to home.png, then every time you change the icon set in the future, it will automatically update this icon. Currently though, it's pointing to what Mandriva named it, because this is what they set everything to with their customised version of KDE, or Gnome, etc.

Some icons do not change for one of two reasons.

1. The new icon set uses the same icon for a particular use as did the earlier one.

2. The new icon set does not have an icon for the particular purpose so the existing one remains unchanged.

As ianW said, you can change the icons individually anyhow. Or you can compile a set of your own from all the icons in the different icon sets. :D :D :D .

Cheers. John.

There´s no other way to do it because some icons are not changeable (like k-menu) and it´s a lot of work doing it for each icon change?

Well, if you only want to change a few icons, like K-menu and Desktop, then it's a few seconds job.

Open Konqueror as root, open up /usr/share/icons folder, look for the default icon folder (it can be named crystalsvg),

then change the icons you desire, but keep the old filename.
