coverup
I have been looking for a videoediting/video compression software to run under Mandriva 2005LE. I have several mpegs captured using my Canon camcorder and WinDVD Creator under Windows. I would like to edit those mpegs into a movie which I could then burn to DVD and compress into Mpeg file to view on my PALM. So far, I could not find anything which I could use. I tried kino but it refuses to open those mpegs (Invalid file specified). Also, I tried cirenella from plf. It installs fine but crashes under LE2005. Also, I looked at avidemux, it opens mpegs but I could not find how one could compress mpegs to a low resolution video which can be viewed on palm. can anybody advise please. devries
Avidemus does what you want. Have a look at the filter options.
Dyslexic
As much as I hate to suggest this, have you tried using the Palm Desktop? It does a good job at converting videos to a size suitable for viewing on both my Tungsten E2, and my Treo 650.
coverup
Thanks for the replies. I tried avidemux, but did not find it very friendly... Which filters should I use? Apparently filter VCD should give a suitable (lowest) resolution. I tried that but have no sound. The audio option was set to copy, but I got no sound. What filter do I need to choose for the audio. Thanks for the tip, Dyslexic. It did not cross my mind that Palm Desktop can do that kind of things.
