bigjohn
I was looking into upgrading my kde (from 3.5.0 to 3.5.1). Which I managed to work out. I then ran the MCC software manager and checked for updates, there was lots, so I installed them (except the one for ALSA as there was a version conflict). The problem now is that it (the Software manager) doesn't want to run, whatever I select it tries to start but then gives me an "application has exited abnormally" Where would I find the logs for the MCC and/or the Software manager to see if I can work out why it's "exiting abnormally" ??? regards john
arctic
I experienced some problems with the software manager when a gtk-theme was somehow creating conflicts with MCC (usually a clearlooks theme). Change your system gui-style to Galaxy and check if it still crashes. Check your /var/log folder as almost everything that happens in Linux is documented there. bigjohn
I don't seem to have a Galaxy style available, so I changed as much of the GUI stuff as possible to the default settings. As for looking at the /var/log (presumably messages as I can't see anything else in there that might hold a clue), I'm not sure what I should be looking for. Pehaps you or someone could advise me what I'd need to check. regards John
