crazyspongebob
I have Ubuntu Breezy on my dual MP Athlon with 1.5 gb of ram 3 hard drives (2 WD, 1 IBM), add-on firewire/usb2 card. I connect my LaCie firewire 40 gig hard drive to my box but am unable to access it. Ubuntu recognizes my LaCie hard drive when I check the devices screen. However, it does not auto mount or even put an entry of the drive when I click on computer under Places menu. Furthermore when I plug my flash drive into either the usb2 or usb1 port, Ubuntu put an entry into Computer but is unable to mount. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks, J.T. scarecrow
Not familiar with Ubuntu, but if you have pmount installed and dbus / hal running as daemons you have at most creating some custom udev rules to mount them (factly I had to REMOVE a couple of udev custom rules in my Arch Linux to have automount fully running). Can you be more specific?
crazyspongebob
Thanx, scrarecrow. I have HAL running. $ps aux|grep "hald" hal 8146 0.0 0.2 5124 3828 ? However my usb pen drive is recognized but not mountable. The following is the detailed error when I try to mount my usb pen drive mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda, missing codepage or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda, missing codepage or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so Error: could not execute pmount J.T. jlc
Check if the firewire modules are being loaded lsmod | egrep 'ieee1394|sbp2' you might also look in dmesg for ieee and sd[abc] dmesg | egrep 'ieee|sd'
crazyspongebob
Thanx for the suggestions. I'll try them out and let you all know. Both my pendrive and LaCie drive are FAT32. I check dmesg. Vfat, NTFS, and other filesystem tried but not recognized or some message of the same sort. J.T.

crazyspongebob
Do you know what FS was on this? fdisk -l /dev/sda cybrjackle, Both my pendrive and firewire drive are FAT32 since I have a WinXP laptop and want to share data between the two boxes. I have no problem using the two drives with my XP laptop. J.T. Update: I am able to manually mount the pendrive using pmount /dev/sda1 since it is recognized as such but no firewire drive recognized.
