solarian
Hi! I have a problem with accessing my usb mounted digicam (Canon A85) It is detected and when the autodetector of 2006 opens the system:/media/camera folder it shows my correct camera model (so it recognizes the cam) But when I try to further browse in the subdir where the camera folders with images should be located I get this output in Konqueror An error occurred while loading system:/media/camera/camera/camera: Unknown error Bad parameters In kcontrol in Peripherals->Digital camera when I press on the information or configure I get this message, although the 'test' button says all is ok. But I can make a successful connection with GTKAM, but! it's awfully slow, very, very, very slow. It takes about 2,5h to get 100mb across. None of this strange behaviour is there in 2005. Please help and better sooner than later, because I've got to publish one concert review. Thanks! ===================== This I get from harddrake IdentificationVendor: Canon, Inc. Description: Powershot A85 Media class: Imaging|Still Image Capture|Picture Transfer Protocol (PIMA 15470) Connection Bus: USB Bus PCI #: 1 PCI device #: 11 Vendor ID: 1193 Device ID: 12473 Misc Module: unknown and after I try to access it with GTKAM I get this IdentificationVendor: Canon, Inc. scarecrow
A85 is listed at gphoto.org as dualmode. Have you tried changing (from the camera firmware menus) the USB mode from "PTP" to "normal", and then su -c "modprobe usb_storage" and plugging it? solarian
There is no option for mode switching in the firmware menu, but everything worked fine under 10.2 so it's not my camera that suddenly got defected p.s. on 10.2 it worked in normal mode Edited February 12, 2006 by solarian
solarian
--------------------- I installed the new 2.6.14 multimedia kernel from thac and ze and I don't know if it's from it, but now my connection speed using gtkam is fast, like it should be for usb still no luck with the standart mandriva usb detector, it only spits out the beforementioned error nessages Edited February 12, 2006 by solarian
scarecrow
AFAIK the -mm kernels provided by Thac and Ze are just slight adaptations (or even no adaptations at all) of the Slavchev kernels (AKA svetljo), a few of them finding their way to /contrib. They can correct me if I'm wrong. All svetljo's kernels can be found at the Mandriva Contactel mirror ( under /people ). The guy is one of the more trustworthy mandrake/iva unofficial rollers (probably the highest esteemed one, after Texstar, who has gone his own way since a few years ago), and his kernels are generally hi-Q... probably better than many official ones.
