MottS
For an unknown reason, the links to konqueror (file manager and internet browser) on my kde 3.1 desktop stoped working yesterday. So I've erased both of them and made new ones with the following symlinks to the app. konqueror --profile webbrowsing konqueror --profile filemanagement It loads faster this way. The original symlinks were kfmclient openProfile webbrowsing kfmclient openProfile filemanagement Could someone back this up for me ? Thx. EDIT#1 and 2: Changed the title EDIT#3: Changed the phrasing... MOttS
bvc
Well, I'm using waimea-wm and... kfmclient openProfile filemanagement = 4.5 sec. konqueror --profile filemanagement = 3.0 sec. Thanks for the speed tip

bvc
Sure...but, aren't you saying it's the opposite for you?
MottS
no no .. It is loading faster with 'konqueror --profile xxx' than 'kfmclient openProfile xxx' kfmclient openProfile xxx = About 2 sec konqueror --profile xxx = Not even a second Yiha! gregor
kfmclient openProfile webbrowsing is faster on my machine (with KDE 3.0). I use about:blank as a homepage, I have also followed Konqueror tips on this page (Konqueror reusing): KDE performance tips http://dforce.sh.cvut.cz/~seli/download/tips.html
hea
Great! I run fluxbox and use konqueror as filemanager. Had to wait for "ages" for konqueror to start, but now 1-2 sec. Tanks!
Guest HaloScan
Thanks for the tip. Shortly after I switched to fluxbox from KDE 3.1, Konqueror shortcuts in fluxbox using kfmclient stopped working but the method you suggested works. I don't notice a speed difference really but it's nice to have it working. :)
