Guest zaziork
I am having major hassles installing my Speedtouch 330 on Mandriva 2006. I ran speedtouchconf.sh (from http://steve-parker.org/speedtouchconf/), and followed the instructions to the letter (including all the preliminary steps). It gets as far as connecting, but then reports that it cannot connect to a URL or even an IP address. It then goes on to report a "broken pipe"... I've tried installing on two occassions, each time with the same result (I totally reinstalled Mandriva 2006 prior to my second attempt. I only downloaded Mandriva a few days ago, so it should be the latest release). Does anyone have any ideas? TIA, Dan
michaelcole
Switch Off your Firewall first before trying again.. Then go through the steps as stated in Steve's Page.. Your modem should flash and come on with all the lights. Just like he says on his web page then you should be connected.. Try that if not note here and i will give you more ideas.. I got one running after a couple of hours.. of trying.. Works well now..
Guest zaziork
Thanks Michael! Indeed it was the firewall that was causing the 'broken pipe' errors. I turned it off and installed the modem which connected to the net without any problem... until I re-booted. During the install, I had set to connect at boot, but this doesn't appear to have worked. In order to connect, I currently need to reinstall the modem after every re-boot.. I haven't trawled the forums for a remedy yet, so hopefully this issue will be quickly resolved...! Thanks again for your help, your firewall heads-up was invaluable. Dan
