jboy
For the command line, see the hostname man page; from konqueror: man:/hostname From MCC: Network & Internet -> Alter Misc Internet Settings -> Host name Also see files: /etc/hosts /etc/sysconfig/network

Guest msp
I wanted to change the computer name (the part that appears in the command line in the ____@____ format). The hostname doesn't seem to achieve this.
devries
You have to restart X for the change to have effect. :)
ianw1974
This link might help: https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?showtopic=5083 I tend to just go into System/Configuration/Hardware/HardDrake. I then select network card, and choose Run Config button. Then when it says hostname, I set it in there. I leave search blank, and zeroconf blank as well. However, if you edit /etc/sysconfig/network you can type what you want in there against the HOSTNAME field. You may have to restart your system or restart your network connection for this to take place. If you use the GUI, it will restart it for you. From the CLI, you can just type: ifdown eth0 (or your eth1 or whatever) ifup eth0 (or eth1 or whatever)
