I thnk that python-lirc is just some modules for python, so when you program you can put on your code:

import lirc

and you will be able to call the functions to work with the IR devices.

My question here would be to see if this package is a requirement of another application, and then you can get to use it.

If you want to read the README file you can go to this path:

/usr/share/docs/python-lirc-VERSION/README.txt

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

I don't have /usr/share/docs/python-lirc-VERSION/README.txt

I have /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/pylircmodule.so

"pyLirc is a module for Python that interacts with lirc to give Python programs the ability to receive commands from remote controls."

Any help is much apreciated

Ben
