Guest pstrobeck Posted October 14, 2005 Report Share Posted October 14, 2005 Hello...it goes like this...I had Suse 9.3 installed on my sata drive...I installed Mandriva2006--no errors...chose grub...when install completed (no errors) it gives me a Grub - Error 17 and hangs...so I reinstalled...chose LILO this time--nor errors...same on boot...How do you fix this?...I am a noob...so simple is important Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
arctic Posted October 14, 2005 Report Share Posted October 14, 2005 Welcome aboard. :) This error can be caused by bad settings for your hdd in the BIOS. Thus go into the system BIOS before the system boots up (most times, you need to hit "del" once the system is activated) and check if your harddisk is set to LBA mode.
