Guest sufilala
ok so i have a newly installed mandrake with apache running quite happily, :D my difficulty is to serve up some directories which are on another partition, for example; user directories & directories set up as aliases in httpd.conf. i'm ok with apache but new to mandy, so i'm assuming this is a linux thing i have my permissions set the way i like em but soon as i turn my back the machine resets em to be more restrictive i CHMOD 755 (in command line or konqerpor) on the /home/username dir, so it can be visible on the web via apache then soon as i turn my back the perms are changed back???? please diagnose this?? this is driving me nuts, am i missing something simple??? HELP! thanks a lot
AussieJohn
I think you may be setting the permissions from within your account. I think you need to set the permissions from within root. Only a guess on my part. Cheers. John.

ilia_kr
I had the same problem myself, so what i've done was creating a user group that conteins both users, and set the permissions so i can manage files even if i'm not the owner.
