i am really new to linux like 3 days new. but i have the following spec.

1.8GHz athlon

256 Mb 333 Mhz ddr ram

40 gig hard drive

partition 1 xp home 30 gig

partition 2 mandrake 9.0 including swap partition total 10 gig

geforce 3 ti200

i installed mandrake in expert mode and defined a manual swap partition.

the symptoms i had were when i opened a piece of software the compuetr took ages to respond and with little or no hard drive activity as the program slowly loaded to memory. once the program was loade it ran like a dream.
