dmesg [solved]

Recommended Posts

When I do a DMESG command, I see a lot of the below information:

Shorewall:net2all:DROP:IN=eth0 OUT= MAC= SRC=192.168.1.100 DST=224.0.0.251 LEN=77 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=255 ID=0 DF PROTO=UDP SPT=5353 DPT=5353 LEN=57

Does anyone knows what this is and how can I stop it.

With the firewall enabled, it will help protect your machine. Without it, your system is wide open.

By default, the firewall protects against all incoming connections, but allows you to access everything. Then, if you want to open certain ports for access, such as ftp port 21, then you can do this, and still have a closed system.

It's normal to get those messages in the logs, as they are just showing what's been blocked, etc.
