Timppl
I loaded gnome as part of the install of 2005, having selected English as the default language. As part of my work the application I am writing has to be able to display in other languages. Under 2005 the language files for gnome/gtk applications do not seem to be installed so that when I use localedrake to change to Portuguese, everything still displays in English. The portuguese .mo file is included in the RPM file. How can I get urpmi/rpm to install the language files ? Note: it all used to work correctly under Slackware but I have just changed over to mandriva
devries
You want to wtrite porugeuse characters? For that you need to change the keyboard layout. I don´t know for gnome but I guess its an option just like in KDE. You probably get an icon in the gnome panel from witchyou can swith between different layouts. Timppl
No, the problem is that if I change the local to Portugal ( or Spain or ... ... ) all the menus etc still appear in English and not in the local language. It appears the language catalogues are not loaded for gnome apps. Writing is no problem, that works perfectly with the gnome keyboard switcher applet.
