Guest salterl
I have just loaded Mandriva 10.2 and LPRng-3.8.28 on a Dell PC to use as a print server accepting prints from Unix and VMS servers. There is a delay of about 3 minutes between sending the print from the remote servers and seeing the job on the Linux queue. I read that the problem may be related to reverse dns lookup. By adding the hostname of the remote Unix server to /etc/hosts on the Linux server the delay is removed. Unfortunately the same doesn't work for the VMS server. Being new to Linux is there a way of stopping dns completely or of stopping LPRng using reverse dns? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
