Guest bryant
All, I recently got LE2005 up and running on my new Dell Latitude d505. Thanks to those who lent a helping hand... My latest annoyance occurs whenever I close my laptop lid, for whatever reason, it seems to send a break signal to the kernel because it forces my system to reboot. Has anyone come accross anything like this; or does anyone have any suggestions?
scarecrow
From what I saw on the net people have trouble making suspend to RAM working with this particular notebook. But swsusp works, so you need using a kernel with swsusp2, or patch it yourself (it isn't difficult). You can get the swsusp2 patches, if needed, from here If, for some reason, you aren't willing to patch your kernel or use a patched one, then bring up "klaptop" and set it not suspending when the lid is closed. Guest bryant
Regarding patching the kernel, 1. My system seems to be stable under 2.6.11 so if I can get it working without patching, I would like that route. 2. I'm a longtime Unix guy (solaris), but fairly new to Linux. I haven't patched the Linux kernel before. From an educational standpoint, I am all for it, I just need to know what I'm doing. 3. Klaptop... What is this? If it is an optional tool or component of KDE, I don't have it. How does it work? Where can I get it? -Bryant Edited August 27, 2005 by bryant
Guest jglen490
I believe it's one of the KDE utilites and should be available through the KDE Control Center.
