SoulSe
What tyme said. On my box, Steam runs so smoothly with Cedega that it might as well be running natively. I am way impressed. But native is always better.

SoulSe
Steam ran good till the last update. Now it doesnt even start.....heh <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The last update of Cedega or Steam? I have both and they're running just fine. This petition really has been written very badly :deal: Oh well, for what it's worth...
Slagathor
I was refering to Steam, I kept getting some goofy error about access violations. Got it working now though......heh Didnt realise there was cedega 4.4.1-1, I was running 4.4.1. I know the petition is written very badly, glad I didnt write it.... (had I written it, it prolly would have been much worse...... )
arthur
eh. a native port requires a complete rewrite of the engine since Half-life 2 uses the DirectX api, and not OpenGL. DirectX will probably never support linux, being from microsoft. and OpenGL might lack some features only DirectX may have. All in all it's a rather futile attempt as Valve will clearly not spend tons of money for what would basically be a completely new game engine for the small linux market. we'd have better luck hacking the Quake 3 Arena game engine source code and improving it...so get it from here and start your compilers!
