jboy
Bad CDs? Did you check the md5sum after download and also verify write when creating the CD. Some folks recommend burning at a slower speed to help eliminate errors (if that is indeed the problem).
tyme
Did you check the ISO's you download to make sure they aren't corrupt? This is explained here If so, have you tried reburning the CDs to make sure you didn't get a bad burn? (i'm a little slow, apparently...had to find the FAQ :P) Edited August 15, 2005 by tyme
arctic
One more tip: make sure that your CD-drive ain't buggy/is clean. I had similar quirks with CDs once and solved it simply by cleaning the drive.
Guest glealm
Ok, let me check the md5sum issue. Also how do you clean the cdrom/drive? Thanks for your help.
SoulSe
Ok, let me check the md5sum issue. Also how do you clean the cdrom/drive? Thanks for your help. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You buy a laser lens cleaner from a CD / computer store and follow the directions. But MD5sum those images first and if they're ok, try burning them again. liquidzoo
Since CD drives differ from machine, I would still try burning them at a slower speed, just in case. Alsom when you get to the disk partitioning part of the install, choose custom disk partitioning. Click on all of the Linux formatted partitions (red for file system, green for swap) and delete them. WARNING: Do NOT delete your Windows partition(s). Bad things will happen (unless you want to get rid of windows, that is) Once that is done, you can either set up partitions yourself, or click on the Auto-Allocate button to have it done for you.
