Does anyone know how to stop that pesky popup that comes up at the bottom of the screen when a URL is highlighted to ask if you want to open that in a browser?

Thanks

Right click on the klipper icon (the one that look like a clipboard in the lower right corner), then uncheck the checkmark in the Actions Enabled option (the one with Alt-Ctrl-X).

Note that I am using KDE 3.1 RC6, but your regular KDE 3.0.x should be similar.

Thanks for that info!

As for the graphical login... You hve to change your settings go have Xwindows to not start on boot,.

To do it the easy way...Go to the Mandrake Control Center and select "Boot" then the Boot Config Icon. You will then see a little box to indicate whether to load it or not..

in the file

/etc/X11/xdm/Xsetup_0

you wil find a line that looks like this

/usr/X11R6/bin/xconsole -geometry 480x130-0-0 -daemon -notify -verbose -fn fixed -exitOnFail

comment it out (with a # at the begining of the line) and you won't get that pesky xconsole anymore
