about updating and backing up

I whould like to know how many ways is there to get latest updates?

I will name some that I know or read of

- mandrivas control center - update (nice way)

- urpmi (mmm nice but need to learn more of it)

- mandrake online (not the website but the software) (I don''t like I think is not free 1st u have to register with them an then u pay I think)

- wget or download from web or ftp mirror

- from CD-rom but not sure wher to get this

 

I like the mcc gui way

 

About backuping I hate it i don't have any good plans and mainly in M$ windows

anyway what if I just worry about the files in /home ?

I now /etc is for configurations but I'm thinking as user mainly I just worry about /home

any ideas suggesting tell me.

 

Oh also I plan to make a CD for all RPMs and I download including updates so that

I don't need to redownload them.
