Guest Keith
I am trying to do an ftp/http install from a remote server. I've tried at least seven different URLs (all from Mandrake's download page), and I encounter this problem no matter what remote server (including the two official mirroring servers) or protocol (ftp or http) I use, or distribution version (9.0 or cooker) I try to download. Networking gets setup fine: the correct nic driver is used, dhcp sets everything up correctly. The setup routine is able to download the mdkinst_stage2.bz2 from Mandrake/base/. Things go awry in second stage install. I have the output from consoles F1 and 3, starting where things go wrong: Console F1: 'in second stage install error using auto_install error :( switch to console F2 for a shell Press <Enter> to reboot' Now Console F3: 'Second stage install running (DrakX v1.772 built Fri Jan 24 14:29:48 2003) found /tmp/network found network config file /tmp/ifcfg-eth0 found network config file /etc/resolv.conf getFile LC-10.203.128.1/rogers05.cfg warning: Error reading file LC-10.203.128.1/rogers05.cfg at /usr/bin/perl-install/install_any.pm line 877.' So, anyone know what the deal is here? Like I said, this happens regardless of server address, protocol or distro version. I originally wanted to get cooker, but after I ran into this error, I tried to download 9.0 just in case the problem was cooker-specific. More details: DHCP cable modem access via Rogers cable. I've installed 9.0 on this machine before w/n/p/. I can't install from CD coz my writer crapped out. TIA for the help.
Ixthusdan
I am no expert on this (but it sounds like fun) but could the worm that has been rampaging the past couple of days been causing enough interference to mess up communications? In an install, all data is critical. But this is just a guess.
