IceWM IcePref and IceMe

I have been messing around with Icewm again. I used it a long time ago, and I wanted to try using it again.

I am having problems getting IcePref and IceMe to work... I remember liking both applications a lot, and really would like to use them for configuration.

Both installed fine from RPMs.. here is the output when I run them:

[root@itwebserver downloads]# iceme

Traceback (most recent call last):

  File "IceMe.py", line 20, in ?

    import GtkExtra

ImportError: No module named GtkExtra

[root@itwebserver downloads]# icepref

Traceback (most recent call last):

  File "/usr/X11R6/bin/icepref", line 974, in ?

    class Label(GtkLabel):

NameError: name 'GtkLabel' is not defined

It appears that I am missing a package or something related either to python or Gtk...however I did some investigating and, hoping they would contain the missing modules, I installed the following packages:

pygtk-0.6.9-3.i386.rpm

python-gtk-0.6.9-3cl.i386.rpm

gtk+-1.2.8-1.i386.rpm

gtk+-devel-1.2.8-1.i386.rpm

gtk+extra-0.99.17.tar.gz

But these didn't seem to help... Anyone know what's going on here?

Strange, I didn't have that problem when I installed icewm on mdk9.0. I can't help you, but if you get no help here, the icewm mailing list is very helpful and active. You'll find the address on the icewm homepage.

Btw: icepref is not ideal for recent versions of ice, because it doesn't address all the options available in those. And manually editing the preferences file might seem a drag, but it's not hard.
