Guest duffmckagan
I can't get along with Samba. I have installed Mandrake many times previously, and now I am stuck up this time. I recently installed Samba from the pack of my 3 Cds (Mandrake 10.1 Official), I did it using the MCC (I searched samba and installed everything that came in my way) My experience from the previous installs, I should get an Icon in INTERNET --> FILE TRANSFERS --> SMB4K But there ain't any ICON like that this time. How can I get My Samba working?
polemicz
Did you install smb4k?
papaschtroumpf
try "urpmi smb4k" as root
scarecrow
smb4k, even on 10.1 (let alone 10.2/2005LE or any current LInux distro) is a useless luxury. Simply type "smb://mywindowshost" on your Konqueror/Krusader addy bar with samba installed (the samba daemon does NOT need to run!) and there you go... ERD
even tho i dont use kde (i use gnome), i used to be a fan of smb4k too, till i discovered LinNeighborhood, much faster and nicer (and i think it consumes a lot less resources than smb4k does) when i ran smb4k it took a while for it to load, and my box seemed kinda slower, not the case with LinNeighborhood. i sugest you give it a try
Guest duffmckagan
Sorry guys, I am replying after so much time. I don't use Mandrake anymore. I am waiting for the LE2005 Cds to come though, and I will start using Mandriva again. Thanks for the replies and the time you gave for this post. All of these are great ideas, and each of them should work. Sorry again, but your advice is helpful.
