Guest FuguFondue
I am using Mandrake 10.1 and the issue is this. I installed Firefox 1.0.2 via urpmi. Shortly thereafter, the update applet informed me that there were updates available. But when I try to install these updates the applet says the update list is empty. Investigating the updates online in my account, I find that there are indeed to updates for Firefox; I scheduled them for update. The applet runs again, and again the update list is empty. Now, I know the update service is working because I have recieved other security updates, but since I cannot update Firefox, the applet icon remains in state of duress. Does anybody have any advice? Barring that, how about a direct email address to someone at Mandriva Online so as to bypass the freaking web contact form (which apparently gets no results). I have twice sent requests for help to Mandriva Online and one to Customer Service for this issue and have heard back from neither. Not too swift for a service I PAY for, in my opinion. adamw
Yes, rather odd. Can we see /etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg ?

polemicz
Try urpmi --fuzzy firefox as root and see what you get.
Guest FuguFondue
Try urpmi --fuzzy firefox as root and see what you get. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The result was the same: "no package named firefox"
adamw
Heh. You have two update sources, both using the 10.1 directory instead of 10.2. I'd say that's the problem! Try this: urpmi.removemedia updates urpmi.removemedia update_source Then re-run MandrakeUpdate and set up some new sources.

Try this: urpmi.removemedia updates urpmi.removemedia update_source Then re-run MandrakeUpdate and set up some new sources. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As root, I executed the two commands you listed and then ran the update applet. I asked it to update the package sources and the result in my urpmi.config file is listed below. The applet still says there are updates, but the update list is still empty. What did I do to screw this up in the first place? And thanks for your help by the way. # generated Tue May 31 10:23:04 2005 { } Installation\ Desktop\ CD\ 1\ (cdrom1) removable://mnt/cdrom/media/main { hdlist: hdlist.Installation Desktop CD 1 (cdrom1).cz ignore key-ids: 70771ff3 removable: /dev/hdc with_hdlist: ../../media/media_info/hdlist1.cz } Installation\ Desktop\ CD\ 2\ (cdrom2) removable://mnt/cdrom/media/main2 { hdlist: hdlist.Installation Desktop CD 2 (cdrom2).cz ignore key-ids: 70771ff3 removable: /dev/hdc with_hdlist: ../../media/media_info/hdlist2.cz } Installation\ Desktop\ CD\ 3\ (cdrom3) removable://mnt/cdrom/media/main3 { hdlist: hdlist.Installation Desktop CD 3 (cdrom3).cz ignore key-ids: 70771ff3 removable: /dev/hdc with_hdlist: ../../media/media_info/hdlist3.cz } Installation\ Desktop\ CD\ 3\ (cdrom4) removable://mnt/cdrom/media/drivers { hdlist: hdlist.Installation Desktop CD 3 (cdrom4).cz ignore key-ids: 70771ff3 removable: /dev/hdc with_hdlist: ../../media/media_info/hdlist4.cz } Installation\ Desktop\ CD\ 3\ (cdrom5) removable://mnt/cdrom/media/commercial { hdlist: hdlist.Installation Desktop CD 3 (cdrom5).cz ignore key-ids: 70771ff3 removable: /dev/hdc with_hdlist: ../../media/media_info/hdlist5.cz } main ftp://ftp.phys.ttu.edu/pub/mandrakelinux/...i586/media/main { hdlist: hdlist.main.cz ignore key-ids: 70771ff3 with_hdlist: media_info/hdlist.cz } contrib ftp://ftp.phys.ttu.edu/pub/mandrakelinux/...6/media/contrib { hdlist: hdlist.contrib.cz ignore key-ids: 78d019f5 with_hdlist: media_info/hdlist.cz } plf-free ftp://ftp.easynet.fr/plf/mandrake/free/10.2 { hdlist: hdlist.plf-free.cz ignore key-ids: caba22ae list: list.plf-free with_hdlist: hdlist.cz } update_source ftp://linux.ups-tlse.fr/Mandrakelinux/off....1/main_updates { hdlist: hdlist.update_source.cz key-ids: 22458a98 list: list.update_source synthesis update with_hdlist: media_info/synthesis.hdlist.cz }
Guest FuguFondue
Can I just delete the urpmi.cfg file and start over?
dexter11
You wrote you are using 10.1. But your main and contrib source arte pointing to 2005 (alias 10.2). Your update points to 10.1 again. Decide which one you want to use and don't mix the two unless you're a real expert.
adamw
I think you should probably do urpmi.removemedia -a and start over using only 10.1 media from easy URPMI.
