Guest Abdulaziz
B) Hi, I am fairly new to linux and have installed mandriva le 2005 on my pc. I want to create a boot disk. I have looked at the official manual which says I need to open a console at root level and then use the mkbootdisc command. My pc does not have a floppy drive but I have a usb key which I would like to use to create a bootable disk with. Any help would be greatly appreciated . . . A. scarecrow
AFAIK there's no way to write a floppy image to any media in the current Mandy release.
pmpatrick
I assume you don't want a boot loader like lilo or grub on your laptop; you just want to be able to stick in your pen drive when you want to boot into mandriva. Like scarecrow says, the kernel image is too big to fit on a floppy. There are probably ways to do that with a pen drive but it's complicated. If you have a cd burner, you can make a boot cd by using and adapting this FAQ: https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?showtopic=11801
