Steve Scrimpshire
I have run xscreensaver-demo and restarted the daemon several times to try to change the screensaver. I can look in my ~/.xscreensaver file and it puts a '-' before all the screensavers I deactivated, but still the same default screensaver comes up (blue background with the floppy, wrenches, etc). What am I doing wrong? Here's my .xscreensaver file: # XScreenSaver Preferences File # Written by xscreensaver-demo 3.33 for omar on Mon Jan 20 02:29:52 2003. # http://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/ timeout: 0:10:00 cycle: 0:10:00 lock: False lockTimeout: 0:00:00 passwdTimeout: 0:00:30 visualID: default installColormap: True verbose: False timestamp: False splash: True splashDuration: 0:00:05 demoCommand: xscreensaver-demo prefsCommand: xscreensaver-demo -prefs helpURL: http://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/man.html loadURL: netscape -remote 'openURL(%s)' || netscape '%s' nice: 10 memoryLimit: 50M fade: True unfade: False fadeSeconds: 0:00:03 fadeTicks: 20 captureStderr: True font: *-medium-r-*-140-*-m-* dpmsEnabled: False dpmsStandby: 2:00:00 dpmsSuspend: 2:00:00 dpmsOff: 4:00:00 grabDesktopImages: True grabVideoFrames: False chooseRandomImages: False imageDirectory: programs: - Steve Scrimpshire
Never mind. I went to the xscreensaver website (like I should have in the first place) and discovered that I had to turn off KDE's screensaver, as explained here: http://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/man1.html#12 Thanks anyway. :-)
