I am haveing trouble trying to setup a santa cruz sound card on a HP motherboard on Mandrake 10.1 Community. At startup the loading of something (can't really tell what, other than it is for alsa, it goes by to fast) fails. I've have some luck with the onboard sound in the few times I've reinstalled mandrake on this box, but at last install it was disabled in the Bios.

I get an error when running alsamixer:

alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such device

Kmix finds no mixer

But as far as I can see, according to lsmod the correct driver is installed:

I have already run alsaconf. One thing that confused me is that even with the integrated Intel audio off, for some reason the install still loaded the correct drives for it, insteand of the santa cruz, which was the only soundcard listed during install and now in harddrake.
