Mandrake 10.1 Kernel hangcheck query

Ok, if I want to recompile the Mandrake 10.1 kernel, what would the hangcheck option be?

Also, dumb question, as a newbie here I honestly dont know, BUT , what is the command to check the kernel version? I need to compile the 2.4 kernel for my server due to hardware issues, and I want to make sure the correct source is installed...

after compiling, how would I install it the kernel as well, or upon kernel compilation is it auto installed?

Google says HANGCHECK_TIMER. :). Look in your present config (in /boot) where to find it.

Command to find version: uname -r

I believe there were some problems with the tools used to auto install the 2.4 kernel (with the 2.6 kernel it works flawless). Best is to copy the files by hand. Have a look at www.madpenguin.org's HOWTOs.
