MrWhisp
Hi, I have updated my x-org to 6.8 which is required for the ATI graphics drivers to work. So far no problem. But when I try to install the ATI driver rpm i get the following message: file /..../libGL.so.1.2 conflicts with file from package libxorg-x11-6.8.2-0.5mdk. Anyone know of a solution to this problem? I have found some info about the problem on Google but have not seen a solution... /MrWhisp
adamw
that's why it tells you to install using --force, I think.
MrWhisp
that's why it tells you to install using --force, I think. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Some of the stuff I found on Google told me that it is a dangerous thing to do... I don't want to crash my installation.....
Guest Sebi
I supose you tried to install the ATI Proprietary Driver (fglrx_6_8_0-8.10.19-1.i386.rpm) which is made for Xorg 6.8.0 - not 6.8.2 :( It uses some different (older?) libraries and that's the problem You can try to make: rmp -i --force fglrx_6_8_0-8.10.19-1.i386.rpm This will work.... but there can be (are) some problems with this. I had some problems upgrading xorg after that :( but I don't know any other solution - by now.
adamw
--force is generally not a good idea, no. Due to the messy nature of ATI's package, though, it's necessary to install it.
