VeeDubb
Why do you have AOL? is there some reason why AOL is the only option? DSL is only $5.00 a month more than AOL. AOL is the most expensive dial-up in the United States. AOL is the worst rated dial-up in the united states as rated by dial-up customers. Just not sure why anyone still uses them. Damnation
ok so i've been suing pengaol, peng. so i search for penggy, find source compile failed. saying is guile installed(it needs it) i dunno so i go to http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/mandrake/10.1...-3mdk.i586.html download all, the glibs won't install they just hang. the rest are already installed i downloaded and installed the universal tun/tap driver then i downloaded penggy from here http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/mandrake/10.1...rake_Linux.html the source didn't want to install so i tried a rpm, and seeing as its for my mandrake version i thought can't go wrong. now with all other dialers i've downloaded NONE have tried to dial NONE have connected NONE have activated my modem. and omfg penggy did it dialed up my modem was connected, in the consol it stated ip tunneling working. i am like yes o yes finally. and here comes the problems although i was connected to the internet on my aol account. my td/rd(transmit data/recieve data) lights weren't flashing when i tried gaim or konquerer so the good news is i can GET online i just can't send or recieve data. if anyone has any ideas why please let me know! Damnation
ok i found out what the problem was, my firewall was blocking the internet i sorted that, my new problem is as follows. whilst i am on linux the modem is fine but when i restart, the modem doesn't work, for a short time i decided to just uninstall penggy. and reinstall it and edit the files. well today i took a look and when penggy did on install was create a symlink called modem. the problem is. after a reboot is done that symlink is gone. any ideas how to fix this?
DragonMage
The simplest thing is to add this symlink manually into your /etc/rc.local file. So add a line like this into your /etc/rc.local ln -s /dev/<modem device> /dev/modem Then after each reboot, the symlink will be made automatically. Good luck
