curtis e. bear
Does anyone know of any energy management software for mandrake? I'd really like my hard drive to spin down when not in use.
devries
If you have acpi running (Mandrake control center, system, services) , look in the kde control center, energy management.
adamw
Beyond the GUI you can script virtually anything yourself with scripts in /etc/acpi . Have a look at what's in there already and Google around a bit, you'll find it an instructive experience :). I've scripted my laptop to throttle CPU down 25%, dim the LCD's backlight and change hard disk power down timeout to 5 seconds when I unplug the power cord.
