ffrr
I have installed printer drivers for my Canon i250 bubblejet, which is attached to a Linksys PSUS-4 printserver. I configured a remote printer using Mandrakeś printer management tool, and it works. I can print the test pages. Also, Mozilla prints happily to the default printer (the i250). However KDEś printer config page hangs with a little popup window saying Initialising printing system. Konqueror does the same when you ask it to print . details - Mandrake 10.1 plus all the latest updates as of last night Edited March 11, 2005 by ffrr

Gotta be a permissions problem somewhere...
ffrr
As per the edited description, I fixed it by finding the kdeprintrc file (under .kde in my home directory) and deleting it. It must have had a weird entry in it, and I guess kdeprint recreated it, and got it right, the second time :)
