dmzeplin
Cache = 256 KB Ram = 353/369 MB Swap = 1/494 MB Any tip for an adjust to make it quick respond? Since most application respond real damn slow when I click to executable it? I might added: when I typed hdparm /dev/hdx it showed; /dev/hdx: multcount = 8 (on) IO_support = 1 (32-bit) unmaskirq = 1 (on) using_dma = 1 (on) keepsettings = 0 (off) readonly = 0 (off) readahead = 256 (on) geometry = 65535/16/63, sectors = 12273597, start = 63 can you explian what multcount and geometry means? Thanks Edited March 7, 2005 by dmzeplin
devries
Make sure the hostname in /etc/hosts is the same as what you get when you give the hostname command (open a console, type: hostname) Hdparm: open a console, type man hdparm. If I remember coorectly multcount is the number of sectors that can be read in one go. Geometry is how the HD is structured.
dmzeplin
I tried to go /etc/hosts, I only access in root; /etc/ and saw hosts in /etc/ but unable to open hosts?? I am pretty still rookie with UNIX stuff.... Also, About Geotmary, is start = 63 too much to start for boot up and run?
