Compiling a couple of changes

Hey all, I have a couple of questions regarding mandrake. I'm new to this, getting mandrake to flawlessly run on a Toshiba m35 is difficult.

1. How would I update changes I've made to the source? Can I recompile one driver? Do I have to compile the whole thing over and run a linux config? I've just changed a couple lines of code to a keyboard driver in the ./drivers folder, what should I do?

2. How do I put things so they start with linux, is there a simple way, or do I have to try to plop them in sysinit?

3. Is there any way to make my main user have all root permissions.

I'm sorry if these questions seem easy to answer, but I've done extensive searching on google, to realize that everyone that talks about this stuff expects me to know how to do it already. Thanks for your help.
