ethraza
How to play Mu on Linux with Wine: My install: MDK 10.1, Kernel 2.6.10, Xorg 6.8.2.0, Wine 20050211-2, NVIDIA acellerated drivers (GeForce MX 4000). 1- The Wine is the normal wine, is not winex or cedega. 2- Install Internet Explorer 6 with the script sidenet 1.8.1. Get this at http://sidenet.ddo.jp/winetips/. 3- Don't let the script Link the Fonts folder. 4- I installed the MS core fonts, but don't know if it is necessary. 5- Copy the fonts from /usr/share/fonts/wine and msttcorefonts (if installed) to ~/c/windows/fonts/. 6- The configs that metters to fonts are this: *** "PerfectGraphics" = "N" <- You can let Y here to gain some glality. "ClientSideWithRender" = "Y" <- N will be a pain, but works too. "ClientSideWithCore" = "N" <- N to gain some frames. "ClientSideAntiAliasWithRender" = "N" <- If Y here the fonts don't apper. "ClientSideAntiAliasWithCore" = "N" <- N to gain some frames. "UseDGA" = "Y" <- Is needed to play games. "Drivers" = "winealsa.drv" <- For good quality sound, but other works too. "Managed" = "N" <- As a option to the launcher may be good. *** 7- Install wine-utils is not necessary but is good. 8- Remeber to put the Mu folder on a place that are seed as a letter drive for wine, ~/c/windows/games/muonline for example is a good place. 9- Go Go Go... Play Mu and be happy. 10- Smile. Ps. All the versions are showed only to documentation, may be work with other packages versions. In resume, wine run Mu, with IE and fonts right configured. :D My entire ~/.wine/config file if you want is attached and is here: WINE REGISTRY Version 2 ;; Powered by Sidenet ;; http://sidenet.ddo.jp/winetips/ ;; Version 1.8.1 ;; All keys relative to \\Machine\\Software\\Wine\\Wine\\Config ;; If you think it is necessary to show others your complete config for a ;; bug report, filter out empty lines and comments with ;; grep -v "^;" ~/.wine/config | grep '.' ethraza
Hi! I'm happy that someone else plays Mu with Linux. :D First of all, I don't play on official server www.muonline.com. In this server your evolution is so slowly that makes you sleep playing. I play on a alternative server, in my case www.b6server.com.br. But exists many others, all of then without GameGuard on main.exe. (ex. muonline.co.uk, muonline.gr) Find one in you contry. :P But if you want to play on original server, I googled and find this about this GG error: This is caused when MU is installed in one user profile and the game is started on another profile user profile. Example: MU was installed in Administrator. Then Mu was installed in a guest profile named "Uriel". If the game runs on "Uriel" the error would happen. Solution: Run the game on Administrator or install MU on "Uriel". If you got any questions please post them. This sitation above talk abount running under WinXP or 2000 that have profiles. In Wine is more like Win98, the profiles stay on c:\windows\profiles, I think. Maybe stay there the answer. Maybe GG simple don't like the way that Wine plays with. And read something abount someone playing with a cracked main.exe without GG. Maybe you can go on the site of GG creators and ask for it. N way... Good Look!!! ethraza
Hi! I'm downloaded and tryed muonline.com here. The official Mu have the GameGuard that don't like something in wine. I got not the same but a similar error, and con't figure out wath is happening. So I send a e-mail to the people from GG and asking for help. I really spect some kind of guidness not only for me but to Linux community. Any answer from the GG people I'll post here to share with all. I'm now playing in an alternative server without GG but I'm now waiting to play on official muonline servers too. My error:

ethraza
I really don't know wath is this error. Never seed. Googled for it and found only 2 things that showed that this file is part of Mu and happens under windows too. 1- Maybe a corrupted download. Try to redownload. 2- Maybe a strange executable from the server you choose. Try another Mu server with another Mu executables. Good luck!

ethraza
Hi! In the first post I posted my full config file, ctrl+f here and you will find where to put that options. I don't play Mu anymore but the last server that I played over was b6server. But I played on Alchemy too. Now my brother, stell play, is playing on BRASIL SERVER. You don't have to run mu.exe, you need to run Launcher.exe. Each server have a Mu client to download and all this clients have something different. The client from Alchemy will not connect on b6server and the one from b6server will not connect on Alchemy. Keep trying. Keep Walking. Guest webdevel
Yes, MU Online runs perfect, but I got a large problem: fonts are broken. I tried to run using cedega and standart wine, the same problem. I tried to run it on Gentoo and on SUSE 9.1, the same problem. I tried to add fonts into ~/.fonts = C:\Windows\fonts , I tried to remove existing fonts from the system, I tried to play with font rendering options on wine, tried to play with screen resolution... nothing can help. I can see english fonts, but they are broken so a few elements of letter are visible, but other elements are absent, so I must guess subscriptions on items. The same problem with HalfLife2, but font size is much more large and fonts are readable. Does anybody have any idea hot to fix fonts problem? ethraza
When playing Mu with wine20050211-2 after the right installation of the MScore fonts, the texts on Mu become normal to me. Now that I have updated the wine to the last version to be possible to play World of Warcraft, I see that the fonts in Mu, simple don't apper anymore, but WoW works great. I don't play Mu anymore but it is what happens with me. If I discovery why, I'll put it here. Good luck.
