Guest Phyzer
Hello, I have installed MDK 10.1 and it works fine sofar but I'm not able to get XDMCP running correctly. In MDK Control Center I found a module allow to configure access via XDMCP by menu selection. (Level and Permisson checks?!? module). Wonderful, I thought, finally only one switch to activate XDMCP after so much pain with XDMCP how to and co., but I experienced that this switch doesn't seem to work anyhow. I see no effect. It doesn't change a line in relevant config files. What is this switch good for then? Unfortunately I cannot establish a connectio via LAN from Cygwin Client to GDM on MDK 10.1. GDMconfig configured to allow XDMCP (=true, * can access), added xhost +localhost and xhost +all_client_IP's. host.allow file is configured as well. According to XDMCP howto that's all to do but it still does not work. Did I forget something? Cgywin does not find it and starts up with greyed 800x600 window only. A simple ssh console session works, so both computers can see each other. No firewalls active while testing and even by launching gdm-chooser locally from gdm I can connect to a dummy-remote session on localhost as well. But I need this to get it running over LAN, not locally on same physical linux machine. BTW: Why after so many years xdmcp is still so susceptible to managing. Maybe it's powerful, but it isn't ergonomic and intuitive to use. I'd really appreciate your help in fixing this issue. Thx and regards, Tom
