Guest newtolinux
Losing too many ticks! TSC cannot be used as a timesource. <4>Possible reasons for this are: You're running with Speedstep, You don't have DMA enabled for your hard disk (see hdparm), Incorrect TSC synchronization on an SMP system (see dmesg). Falling back to a sane timesource now. Ok I have been trying to find out how to fix this for the last couple of days. I did not know exactly where to post this message so I thought here would be a good place to start. I was previously running mandrake 10.1 and I noticed that my clock was lossing minutes over the day. So I was starting to get furrious at it and once I started regularly reseting the clock to the correct time my file system starts to crash. I have not been able to find a solution online yet and have no idea what to do. I just installed mandrake 10.0 hoping that it was just some strange error in 10.1 that only I was getting and to no avail the problem is still here. If it helps I have to issue the ide=nodma and acpi=off when I boot into linux. Anyone every encounter this or have any helpful information? Thanks. devries
You don't have DMA enabled for your hard disk (see hdparm), and ide=nodma ?? Why don't you turn dma on? hdparm -d1 /dev/hdx (where x is the number of the HD) The clock problem: turn on NTP. Rightclick on the clock, settings, check ntp and choose a server. Good luck.
