arctic Posted February 12, 2005 Report Share Posted February 12, 2005 if you want to do it, keep in mind to do it from the command-line (= do not boot into a graphical environment, if possible). that way, the risk of crippling your system will be minimized. adamw Posted February 14, 2005 Report Share Posted February 14, 2005 I wouldn't use --auto for such a big update either. --auto is good for routine updates which you want to be done non-interactively and which you don't expect to present problems (i.e., regular security updates, or daily Cooker updates if you run Cooker). I wouldn't rely on it for upgrading your entire system, though. Just use --auto-select -v and answer the questions for yourself. :) (if you didn't know, --auto is there to make the process work non-interactively; basically, whenever urpmi would usually ask you for input - are you happy for me to wipe these packages, would you like to install X or Y to satisfy dependency Z, and so on - it just answers for itself and carries on going).
