Guest aleirland
Hi all. I have a big problem to solve. I have a Toshiba Notebook. It can only make a boot from internal Floppy or Cd-Rom device . It can’t make a boot from usb devices. I have a external usb cd-Rw device LG HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B. Mandrake to recognize usb cd-Rw device and see it with /dev/sr0. Windows see too. The problem is that floppy and CD-.Rom device do not work. On my Toshiba ,i have Win ME and Mandrake 10.0. Now i should install another time, Mandrake 10.0. I use a bootloader of Mandrake (LILO.CONF) to enter in two SO. I know that if i have a floppy device working, i make a floppy boot to install mandrake from CD-RW device. Can LILLO make a boot from CD-RW device and to load image to install mandrake? Can i create a virtual floppy in linux or windows for to do a boot from CD-RW device? Are There another possibility? Thank You
GodFlesh
Hello, You can try to just update your 10.0 installation into 10.1 with urpmi. Did you try to burn the "boot.iso" (10mega) image on a cdrw and then make a network install to see if it works ?
iphitus
Hey, i know the feeling dude, my laptop has a firewire cd drive. Dont fret though, chances are your drive will work, mandrake autodetects mine now, as of 10.1. Try 10.0, i cant guarantee anything, but im sure it'll work on 10.
