Hi, seems like im really screaming for help today. Im trying to get ipw2100 to work according to:

http://www.joot.com/dave/writings/articles...nux-howto.shtml

Im supposed to run:

urpmi kernel-source-2.6.8.1-10mdk.i586.rpm (also tried different versions)

this however gives me

error registering local packages

Im on a clean 10.1 with nothing else installed. Urpmi works fins otherwise. What am I doing wrong this time?

Thanks (again)

Make sure its the correct kernel - in terminal, type: uname -r

[robert@localhost robert]$ uname -r

2.6.8.1-12mdk

This is the latest kernel, so maybe you should urpmi kernel to see what's available since you seem to have an older one, and the go up to the 1-12 version.

Also, maybe your urpmi sources are down. What does uprmi.update -a do? Anything hanging? If so try going to urpmi.org, look for the easyurpmi link and re-set your sources...

Good luck,

RObert

ipw2100 works out-the-box on 10.1, but if you're not using the commercial/Club versions, you just need to get the firmware files from http://ipw2100.sf.net

Very interesting. Anyone like to elaboarate on this, in a simple (IDIOT!) way?

I had heard somewhere that the ipw2100 driver for 10.1 was actually an old version of NDSIWrapper.

Thanks to anyone who can help get this iritating card working
