Guest vance
My hosts.deny has the following data. After the ALL:ALL there is no more spaces or returns. My problem is in the /var/log/messages file I am getting the following : warning: /etc/hosts.allow, line 7: missing newline or line too long # # hosts.deny This file describes the names of the hosts which are # *not* allowed to use the local INET services, as decided # by the '/usr/sbin/tcpd' server. # # The portmap line is redundant, but it is left to remind you that # the new secure portmap uses hosts.deny and hosts.allow. In particular # you should know that NFS uses portmap! ALL:ALL I am getting the same message for my hosts.allow file, which has the following : # # hosts.allow This file describes the names of the hosts which are # allowed to use the local INET services, as decided # by the '/usr/sbin/tcpd' server. # ###.###.220.245:###.###.3.31:###.###.3.32:###.###.3.33:###.###.3.34:###.###.3.35 :###.###.3.36: ###.###.3.37:###.###.3.38:###.###.3.39:###.###.3.40:###.###.3.41:127.0.0.1 Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreicated. Move your cursor to the end of "ALL:ALL" , then hit enter and save the file. It needs a blank line or return to see the end of the file or something like that.
